Tool for cutting optical fiber with no splintering or fracturing.
For many applications, such as lighting and model making, "hot knifing" the end of a plastic optical fiber is entirely adequate and saves a lot of time - compared to cutting and hand polishing. Used like a soldering iron or wood burning tool.
- The 30-watt heating element plugs into a standard 110 VAC 3-prong outlet and has 4-foot cord.
- Replacement cutting blades are standard X-ACTO® type and are available from any hobby, hardware or tool store.
- Suitable for optical fiber diameters up to 1.5 mm.
